Getting Started and Mastering Your Creative Power

One of the beauties of the process of mastering your creative power is that process doesn’t really change over time or with proficiency. What does change is the number and types of situations where you are able to exercise your creative power and your ability to create situations that are more pleasant and satisfying.

Getting Started:

No matter where you are in your life situation from homeless to a CEO you can learn to apply the 5 principles of mastering your creative power to some situation, where you see empowerment is possible. A situation where you can see that you have given your power away and are motivated to get it back.

Possible Empowerment

Consider a homeless person and a CEO are not comfortable and completely at-ease when they are spending time with their children. They both could see that it is possible to have the experience of well-being (love, peace, and joy) in this situation. They are also motivated to change their experience. This situation is a good candidate for the initial application of their creative power:

Ø      For our homeless person – She currently feels unworthy when she is spending time with her children. She has little money to spend on them and that “makes” her feel like a failure. And so, many visits seem awkward and she often cancels visits rather than face her negative feelings.

Ø      For our CEO – She currently feels pressed for time and her job leaves her tired at the end of a long day. She often finds herself short tempered and irritable, if the children don’t behave “right” and often ends up arguing or sending the kids off to watch TV rather than actually spending time with them. She is left feeling angry and resentful and feels like a failure as a mother.

After applying the 5 principles of creative power both women can see what has been happening. They each set an intention to create well-being for themselves and to have a closer relationship with their children. Each chooses to put their attention on the love, liveliness, and wisdom they can share with their children rather focusing on their ability to entertain their children in a certain way and their own self-criticism. In doing so, they create a sense of well-being for themselves which they can extend to their children. They love it and so do the children.

Disempowered Situations

Most people will find many situations where they feel disempowered and can’t or won’t believe that they could change their mind. At this time I am certain there are situations where you would find it difficult to be at-ease and enjoy a state of well-being, for example:

Ø      Losing work on your computer

Ø      Having someone not give you the respect you “deserve”

Ø      Or, simply waiting in line for 10 minutes

Perhaps you just can’t belief that you would ever have the time to wait 10 minutes in line; that your time is just too valuable. And so, whenever you find yourself in a line, if you pay attention, you might notice you are choosing to empower your irritation rather than your well-being. But, it might be that you are just not ready to give up being “entitled” to better service and, hence, you will experience lack and disempowerment and a very long 10 minutes. Or, might think about Mastering Your Creative Power and choosing to create well-being for yourself.

Mastery:

Your ability to exercise your creative power in a wider variety of situations and to create situations that are more pleasant and satisfying is largely a function of:

Ø      Paying attention to what is going on in your life (Principle #1) and,

Ø      Your willingness to apply the other four principles to the situation
